at home with Zac&Mieke
I’ve been meaning to stop by my friends Zac and Mieke’s place to take pictures for a while now, but for some reason just never got around to it. And then they told us that they were putting their place on the market and Mieke texted me to see if I could take a few pictures of their family in their first home before it got listed. So this is a little bit family shoot, a little bit home shoot.
These things are always so bittersweet, aren’t they? As exciting as it is to do new things, this is the place they lived when they first got married, where they came home with both of their boys, the home that they both poured so many blood, sweat and tears into. Zac did a lot of the updates and renos himself and their love for simple, yet well-made things really shines through. It is a home that is full of life and stories of their first years of marriage and family.
Not to mention, it’s a 10 minute walk from our place. Which I really thought would hold them back from ever moving. Boy, was I wrong. I suppose they’re still worth the drive to visit.
Since moving into this house, Zac has also started his own woodworking business with his brother called Circle A Carpentry. Their home really tells the story of how this passion grew from a hobby to a full time business. One of the first big projects he took on here was the wide plank pine flooring in the main room and one of the last things to be finished up was this custom kitchen. And so many other things in between, this place is full of custom work and well made, meaningful pieces.
I’m sure it will be sad to leave this home, so full of good memories. But like I said, there are more exciting things on the horizon. Or at least different, anyways. Change is good, but it’s also precious to be able to look back on the years we’ve had already with a smile on our face, knowing there were so many good reasons to remember them. But also knowing that makes us all the more ready for our next adventure! Can’t wait to see how it turns out.
