Progress Report; December
Hi friends! It’s been a while, so I thought I’d check in with you. You might be wondering where we’re at reno-wise, and honestly, it’s been put on hold for a couple months. Which is why there has been a serious lack of blog posts. Dan and I have both been hunkering down, focussing on school and work, respectively, and decided to come back to the kitchen in December when Dan’s semester is done. That way we can work on it together and make some real progress.
I’ve been working nights (just for the holiday season) so I haven’t had a lot of time to work on the house, plus we’re at a point where things are more of a two person job, so instead of me struggling to get stuff done on my own, it’s better to wait til both of us have time.
Honestly, it’s amazing how quickly you adapt to situations, and overall, ours isn’t that bad. We have a sink, we have a stove. We made a couple surfaces where we can eat, work and meal prep. It’s not pretty, but it totally works. And I even spruced it up a little with some stuff I already had. It’s funny how just having a few small, nice details can make even a construction zone kind of cozy.
Our next stage is drywall, which we’ve already bought and is in the house ready to go. As much as I’m not looking forward to the drywall dust, I can’t wait to start putting the room back together. And then we will finally be able to buy all our finishes (the fun part) and see it really come together. Plus, we still have a whole Ikea kitchen to put together yet, so I know that’s going to be super fun! Right? Right??!
One other thing, I was wondering, would you guys be interested in some more in depth posts about our reno process/costs? I’d be happy to break some of it down for you, but it would definitely be a more information heavy post, so wanted to know if that’s something you’d like to read about or not before I really jump into it. Let me know!
